Have you ever had somebody that simply could not get over you? Me neither, but I kinda' got to experience that feeling for a little while listening to Israel McCloud’s, Forget About Me. In this song, Israel McCloud brings us an enticing fusion of Hip Hop, R&B, and Afrobeats to create a vibe that pretty much begs you to add it to your breakup song playlist, or whatever playlist you stash your post-love love songs in. If you’ve tuned into any of my earlier reviews, you know that love songs of any kind are my JAM, so this one definitely got added to the family.
The transition from Afrobeat, to R&B, to Hip Hop within this piece not only keeps the listener entertained, but also shows off Israel’s versatility. In my opinion, to get the full feel of this song, you neeeeeed to have both headphones in. Regular out-in-the-open audio just does not do it justice. Around the 1:10 mark, Israel says “You hate to love me strongly” and I feel attackeddd, but this song really goes so I guess I can push that aside. All I’m saying is, if you’re anything like me, this song will for sure hit you in your gut, but it’s 100% worth it.
