M'Lynn x L A C E x Melanie Jo x Fivel- Trophy Shelf (Track Review)

Written by Kayla Allen

Today I want to set the mood with this harmonious collaboration by artists M’Lynn and Fivel. M’Lynn is a singer and songwriter from Dallas, Texas. Fivel is an artist and musical engineer from Florida. They have come together, along with artists Melanie Jo and Lace, to create a rhythmic tune about thinking less and just enjoying a romantic partner. The vocal stacks throughout the song complement this alluring Lo-fi sounding track. Horns are commonly used for celebration, so I love the horn during the hook, it assists greatly in depicting the concept of the trophy shelf.

These artists have amazing talent from their voices to the production. The airy vocals and strong runs make this track so enticing. “Take apart my memories, give me something soft and sweet, I don’t wanna be another,” they want to get lost in each other! The lyrics come off so intimate and genuine. The hook ends with “We both got some time to kill, take my heart and use it well, I don’t wanna be a number on your trophy shelf,” No one wants to feel like they are one of many and we all need some reassurance every now and again.

“Trophy Shelf” is beautiful on many levels. You can add this soulful track to your romance playlist.
