Nikki Buatti- Not Know You (Track Review)

Written by Malachi Buchanan

This retro soul, neo-soul, and funk track opens with a strong, cinematic intro complete with an early-morning ABC News clip -- giving listeners the imagination of a 24/7 house show that’s still going strong into the wee hours of the morning. Sleep? I never liked her. It's a futuristic and bold artistic choice that sets a unique tone, though a tighter, radio-style intro could have made it even punchier.

Vocally, there’s a distinct Amy Winehouse vibe, which fits the heartbreaking lyrics about attachment to a fading love. While the lyrics themselves, don’t wow me, the dreamy, late-night instrumentation perfectly captures the vibe of winding down -- a perfect last song for any set when you've been playing your heart out, all night.

Take a listen

Just listened to this track. Love the song! But this ain’t a neo soul funk track. It’s more R&B or even jazz. I’d say soul. But i don’t hear the funk. The writer is also wrong and needs to do better research. Swanodown sucks

I just listened to the song and i personally love it. This writer is retarded. I took a look at some past reviews and coming from a black man myself i can see they seem to only criticize artists that aren’t black or trap wrap. They criticize anything with depth. They don’t even have a big following. Those followers are paid for and it’s obvious. Not a good look on the company or the writers. Just some amateur work here from what i read and see

Writer seems to be angry with a stick up his behind or just plain stupid

Clarice.. this review is meant for the track only. Not the music video. The track does not have the radio in it. The music video does. It’s a “track review” only tagging the song.

I do kind of understand what Mary is saying about the time thing, that is understandable, especially if you’re “excited” knowing the piece is coming out. But her language is totally wrong and arrogant.
