This is one of the hardest working guys I know. Being that we're always on a steady grind at SwanoDown, we tend to know a diligent person when we see one. However, that's not the only reason Piriye connects with us here. He has some SwanoDown history attached to his name.
Before SwanoDown was a full publication, it was a podcast, titled: SwanoDown Podcast (we didn't spend too much time on the name). Piriye was one of the first artists who SwanoDown ever critiqued, and because of that, his name rings bells around here. That first review was a bit over two years ago. Now, Piriye has released some more cuts, so let's check one of them out.
On Piriye's latest piece, Mean N Spicy, he gives us a little taste of the Blues. You can hear the raillery turmoil in Piriye's vocal color, while he sings: "Little mama gold a hold on me, little mama got a hold on me..." Have you ever had that one person in your life with a little too much feistiness? But regardless, you continue to be attracted to them, or maybe love them even? That's what Piriye is dealing with here on this piece. Throughout, you hear him referring to his love interest's "spicy" ways, but also exclaims how sexy she is, and how her attitude makes him even more enticed.
Piriye's storytelling is vivid, and told above a funky instrumental. The percussion, and strings on this joint really create the mood. Solid composition.
