Randy Napoleon- The Door is Open (Track Review)

Written by Imani Wj Wright

I heard Randy Napolean is a legend in the midwestern Jazz scene, and after listening to 'The Door is Open', I see why.

This is over six minutes of pure instrumental prowess.

One thing I've always enjoyed in art is subtly. Think about shows that are often regarded as the greatest of all time- The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire,,, As action-packed and exciting as they were, they had an uncanny ability to be cerebral. It's the closest thing to real life, we're not always up, and we're not always down. The natural progression of 'The Door is Open' feels just like that, Napolean is opening the door to a muscial journey, a compositional path for you to dive into.

To say the least, this is a Jazz cut that'll get your feet tapping, and your head thinking.
