A song that gave me chills:
Molly Miller Trio- 66 West
I just got off the phone with my dad, and we were discussing several masterpieces from the world of art. We both agreed that Kill Bill is Quentin Tarantino's Magnum Opus (we debated on whether vol 1 or 2 was his best, but it's still Kill Bill nonetheless)! Listening to this piece stirred up the type of suspense and cinematic excellence that both volumes of Kill Bill do. I just started this piece again, and more goosebump appeared. Yeah, this isn't a fluke...
A record that made me an instant fan:
Aubryanna- CoverGirl
I heard this voice and immediately thoughT to myself: "Future superstar." Can you recall the first time you listened to SZA? Or how about the first time you listened to H.E.R.? That's what it's giving here. Aubryanna's voice and in-your-face storytelling is ready for the masses.
A record that made me reminisce:
Jonathan Thomas Maiocco- Heaven
I'm not sure if this was Jonathan's intention on this one. But some of the themes that he touches on "Heaven" make me think about people who I may or may not owe apologies to. I'm sure you've experienced that before. Looking back at a situation where you felt 100% right, but then realize you may have been wrong. Turn this on and take that moment of self reflection.
A track I just added to my Personal Playlist:
Oli Old- WiSH
Good grief. This song is BEAUTIFUL. One of my all-time favorite artists is Sampha. And what makes Sampha so great to me are his emotive vocals, vivid/relatable songwriting, and personified piano play. All of those attributes are shown on "WiSH". Now is this the greatest singing performance I've ever heard? Nah. Definitely not. But is it one of the most raw and authentic? 100 times yes!
A track that should be on every Top 40 station:
Still Searching- My Therapist Says
A track that should be on every Top 40 station:
Still Searching- My Therapist Says
First of all. Isn't this one hell of a name? Secondly, once you listen, you'll get it. "My Therapist Says" is a piece that you'll be able to blast at almost any social occasion for the next 15 years (at least). it has that universally safe and appreciated sound that keeps some Pop Stars relevant for a long time.
