Curated by Lukey Lenz
Here at SwanoDown, we listen to a ton of music on a DAILY basis. And during these days, of course, there are standout tracks. Below you'll find the 10 compositions we feel you should check out tonight, (or soon). We find these artists to be the most cutting-edge. And oh yeah, this is in no particular order... You decide!
Compositionally elevated songs by artists like Marco Apicella, lofi astronaut, and The Claire Daly Band, are all featured today.
David Whitman- Feeling Alright
As of late, jazz has really struck me as being one of the premiere crowd pleasing genres. David Whitman and company bring a retro sound, one of which will play well at an elegant dinner with your significant other.
Nathan Kersey-Wilson- Tranquility
It’s rare we adults find days where our schedules are mild, our energy is high, and we have time enough to do something as leisurely as get lost in your hometown for a nice drive. Kersey-Wilson takes us for a sunny day stroll in a part of your city that you’ve never seen. Click your seatbelt, check your gas gauge, and cruise along to Tranquility.
Roland Tempelaar- Tenderly
When artists create, they like to have inspiration to propel them through the process. With a track like Tenderly, one is hit with a reflective and mellow feeling of creation. With it’s soft percussion and it’s intermittent height of keys, Tempelaar crafts Tenderly to fit an eclectic listener.
lofi astronaut- Space Suit
A very consistent and well paced track is what many of us need to keep our minds stimulated. Whether it’s studying or mounting a tv on the wall, lofi astronaut came through with a very solid track!
Marco Apicella- Borealis
This track is very inquisitive… as it asks questions and makes assumptions. The keys are cold and dramatic, invoking a somber but creative emotion. It is as if his piano was crafted in the dead of winter inside of Lake Como. Fix some tea and ponder with Marco.
Quinn Sternberg- Cicada Song
I’ve only been to a few jazz clubs in my life but I’ll tell you that if I ever saw this song played live, I’d have to ask for an autograph. The way the horns and percussion work in tandem makes for an exhilarating build and conclusion to close this masterful, 5 minute composition.
Chiais- Summer Street
Ever had a breakup knowing that you two would soon be back together? Well, Chiais’ Summer Street will have you reminiscing about that semi-toxic summer fling you had that one year. Tune in and recollect that mental memory on that summer street.
Ilia de Vega- Amaterasu
Goodbyes are never fun and no matter if it’s real life or on the big screen, songs like this always make them feel that much more heavy. Ilia takes you for a short journey through the passage of their mindscape and recreates that desolate feeling of severance.
Florian Boden- Intuitive
In the vast expanse of space lives the planet Earth- home to creators. Not on a cosmic scale, but with nail biting build up and awe inspiring sound, Florian Boden creates a track that is filled with a heterogenous mixture of the most fantastical elements in music. Is this what the next frontier sounds like?
The Claire Daly Band- Simone
You’re drinking wine in your favorite outfit at a night out with your spouse and their parents. It’s been an awkward vibe all night but eventually the drinks start to hit just the right way and The Claire Daly Band catches your attention. With their high energy and elite instrumentation you and the family can’t help but to dance.
